Minnie ducked behind a garbage can. Breathing so heavily she was sure it could hear, smell and taste her fear. It wasn’t every day that a wolf ran through the city of Chicago. Why her though? Why was this animal singling her out? Before she could think another thought, she heard a low growling sound. She turned around and a ferocious growl escaped the creatures’ mouth. On instinct, Minnie ran for her life, darting through alley ways, jumping over trash piles. She thought she lost it for the second time when she turned a corner, but heard snapping noises followed by more growling. Minnie was scared, not only was she just scared, she feared for her life. It all seemed to work into her mind like a movie, slow motion. Darting down another alley, Minnie saw it was a dead end. Before she could turn back she saw the creature running towards her. She had no time to think, the wolf was going to corner her and tear her to shreds, for that she was certain. At that moment she looked up and saw a ladder with a rope hanging down on the side of the building next to her. Without thinking of the black beast, she jumped with all her might to reach the rope that destined her for life or death.
Just as she jumped, the beast jumped with her, following her moves in the air. She held her breath as she reached the rope and hauled herself up the metal ladder. A sigh of relief, until she looked down and saw blood seeping through her blue skinny jeans. The one thing she didn’t notice while jumping through the air, was the wolf nipping at her legs. She scrambled to the top of the building with a tingling in her leg. The gash wasn’t as deep as she thought it was, a little blood never hurt. Minnie dared herself to look down and see if the wolf was still lurking below. Peering over the edge of the building, she saw no sign of the dangerous wolf. She still could not bring herself to feel like she was safe. Cautiously, she made her way down the ladder and brushed herself off, slightly limping. Walking down Arthur Street, she felt an abnormally cool breeze for the hot summer day. Something very weird was happening that day, she just couldn’t tell what yet.
That day was a very important day in Minnies life, she didn’t know it at that moment but it very much was.
