Janie the Justice Seeking Superhero - - By: Stephanie Pomeroy 10th grade

There once was a girl named Janie. She was quite an extraordinary little girl; for she thought she was a super hero. She called herself “Janie the Justice Seeking Superhero”. She loved wearing the cape her grandma made her; it was purple with a big orange J, right on the front. Janie would always run around the house as if she was flying and when she wasn’t doing that, you could always find her up in her room saving her stuffed animals.
Janie had a little brother, Ethan, he was three. He was always getting into things and searching for adventure, he was Janie’s little sidekick. They were always fighting “crime” together. One day, last fall, Janie was in the living room playing, and Ethan came running in. He was frantically shouting her name. He told her that Keyava, their pet fish, was stuck in the toilet. He explained to Janie that he was playing with Keyava in the toilet and accidently flushed her down the drain. Janie grabbed her cape and ran to the bathroom and peeked into the toilet. Keyava was no where to be found.
Janie sat there for a few minutes and tried to think of ways to get Keyava out of the toilet. Then she had the best idea. She ran into the kitchen and grabbed the fish food. She got some string out of her dad’s tackle box and found some tape. Janie then taped a piece of fish food to the string. She ran back into the bathroom and plopped the string with the food right into the toilet. She slowly lowered it down the drain and waited for Keyava to take the bait, just like fishing. After a couple of minutes, nothing happened, so Janie the Justice Seeking Superhero went to plan B. She ran into the living room and found her daddy. She told him what happened and asked if he could help. Janie’s dad thought for a few moments and had an idea. He walked out of the room, and Janie followed him. They both walked the garage and Janie’s dad got his tool bag. Janie knew that her daddy was going to do something drastic. They both went back into the house and into the bathroom. Janie stood by Ethan as they watched their dad take apart the toilet. He got his big wrench and twisted the pipe at the bottom of the toilet. Then, something bad happened.
Just as their dad untwisted that pipe a bunch of water spilled everywhere. The whole bathroom was flooded, and everything was wet. Janie’s dad said some very naughty words, and told Janie and Ethan to go get towels to clean up the mess. When they came back, their dad was standing there, holding Keyava. Janie and Ethan were so happy that they rushed over and scooped her up and put her in her fishbowl. Janie and Ethan learned a lot that day. Especially not to play with their pet fish in the toilet!
